Solar & battery rebates · 2026

What you can actually claim in 2026.

A plain-English summary of the federal battery rebate and the state schemes still open, with the closed ones marked honestly so you're not chasing rebates that no longer exist. Pick your state below to see what may apply.

Read this first. Rebate amounts and eligibility change often, and the federal battery rebate steps down every six months until 2030. The figures here are general guidance only and depend on your battery size, your location and the date you install. Always confirm the current amount with an accredited installer and the official source before relying on it. Energy Growth Australia is not a government body and does not administer these rebates.

Federal battery rebate

Cheaper Home Batteries Program
Active
~30% off a home battery · roughly $2,520 off a 10 kWh system

A national discount of about 30% on eligible home batteries (5 to 100 kWh), delivered as a point-of-sale discount on your install. There's no separate application and no income test. It's worth roughly $252 per usable kWh in the southern states from 1 May 2026, and more in sunnier parts of the country. The full rate applies to the first 14 kWh.

Federal solar panel discount

Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (STCs)
Active
Point-of-sale discount on rooftop solar, applied to your quote

When you install rooftop solar, your system earns Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs), which your installer typically claims and deducts straight off the price. It isn't means-tested. The value reduces a little each year on 1 January as the scheme winds down toward 2030, so the discount is larger the sooner you install.
